Every year, the Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) hosts regional shows across the country. These events create a unique space. Ideas, innovations, and conversations about agriculture come to life here. These events are crossroads for learning, networking, and seeing what’s possible when people and solutions meet.
From June 11 to 14, the Kakamega Showground becomes the destination for all roads in the region. The Western Kenya edition of the ASK Show will take place there. And this year, ADS Western will be there not just to showcase our work. We aim to connect and exchange ideas. We also want to invite new collaborations.
A Bit of History: What is the ASK Show?
The Agricultural Society of Kenya was established over a century ago. Its purpose is to promote agricultural development through exhibitions. It also focuses on training and knowledge sharing. Since then, ASK Shows have grown into major annual events. They draw thousands of farmers, students, businesses, NGOs, government agencies, and innovators from across the country.
Each regional show from Nairobi to Mombasa to Kakamega reflects the agricultural realities and opportunities of its area. Kakamega, as the commercial heart of Western Kenya, plays host to counties like Bungoma, Busia, Vihiga, and others. It’s an ideal location for an event that brings together players from across the food and development ecosystem.
Why ADS Western Is Participating
At ADS Western, our work is deeply rooted in the lives and livelihoods of communities across this region. We promote sustainable farming, advance peace, health, and human dignity, our programmes are designed to be practical, inclusive, and responsive to changing times.
So when we saw this year’s ASK Show theme
“Promoting Climate-Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives”
we knew we had a lot to share.
Climate change, market access, youth unemployment, and food insecurity are not abstract issues for us. They’re part of our everyday work, and the ASK Show is an opportunity to bring that work into public view.
